Marcus is the author of three previous books, and a number of literary/historical articles as well as the editor (and contributor) of a new book on John Buchan’s life and work published in August 2025, the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The book’s title is “John Buchan Reconsidered: Thirty-Nine Years of War and Peace, 1901-1940.”

The talk will be a fast-paced, richly illustrated talk on this new book with many historical slides. Buchan (author of course of “The Thirty-Nine Steps“) played an important part in three wars, as well as being a figure of enormous influence – both politically (a supporter of women’s suffrage and full rights for UK’s African subjects for instance) and in literary terms.
