Life in Ancient Times

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Monthly on Thursday afternoons
Venue: BYCC large room

A small discussion group challenging some of the stereotypes in light of recent research. The focus is on the everyday life of ordinary people rather than monuments and ritual.
Working through time we start with the ice age:
How did Neandertals survive? What animals were hunted and how? Were modern homo sapiens better equipped?

Moving on ,we consider Doggerland and living through climate change.

Then why and how did people take up farming, what can we learn from Oetzi the ice-man, how did metals change society, the invention of writing, money.
As this is chronological members should plan to attend most sessions and do some background reading.
